Kendall had the time of her life this past Saturday… It was her Bat Mitzvah day and she was totally prepared for it in all senses: a beautiful service in the morning at Temple B’nai Aviv, in Weston, and later on the evening, a fantastic party for lots of her friends and family at the Weston Hills Country Club. Ross and his Rock With U crew did an incredible job and the dance floor was never left empty throughout the night, and both adults and kids were partying together and having a fantastic time. Kendall was absolutely happy, and so were Allison, Todd and little Devon, who seemed to be having her own Bat Mitzvah (it will be your turn in two year more, Devon!). Mazel Tov to the Cohens, a family I’m proud to call friends!

Max’s Bar Mitzvah took place at Temple B’nai Aviv last Thursday, with a beautiful service followed by a luncheon right there at the Temple. On Friday evening, it was time for Max to welcome his friends at the Society Lounge in the Hyatt Bonaventure in Weston. Max and his crew enjoyed a great few hours of much dancing and partying (no adults allowed!), with Jason Banks and his Jammin’ Express team being responsible for the music and dance floor activities. Congratulations to the wonderful Stettin family on yet another milestone in their lives, I was proud to be there for them once again!

Peri’s Bat Mitzvah was a dream come true to the Shechtman family… After her older sister Brennan became a Bat Mitzvah back in 2010, it was Peri’s turn to celebrate this very important moment in her life, and she did it in great style! The service at Temple Beth El was a very intimate and emotional one, at the end of a beautiful Saturday, and from there everyone went straight to the Gulfstream Park for the party at Sport of Kings. The dance floor was kept crowded by Ross, from Rock With U, and all of Peri’s guests had an incredible time partying and simply having a lot of fun. Peri is one of the sweetest persons I’ve ever met, and her special day was just like that: sweet and intense. Mazel Tov to her, Kim, Steve, Brennan and Jack!

Pure Energy at Slice

After over a year of much work, countless essays and application processes, and endless “what ifs” and this and that, Fernanda has finally made up her mind and decided that Northwestern University will be her home for the next four years… She got accepted to the Medill School of Journalism and, after visiting the campus in Evanston together with Nicole and I last week, she’s pretty sure that this is the right place. We spent a few days exploring the university, the little college town around it and also got to see a little bit of what Chicago has to offer. We are very happy and proud of our daughter, and can only wish her much success and happiness in her new life at college. Here are a few simple images of those few days together…

Meagan became a Bat Mitzvah a little over two years after her older brother, Matthew, had his own Bar Mitzvah, and I was lucky enough to have been present to these two great moments in their family life. This time around the celebration took place at Temple Beth Emet, after a great morning service at Temple Dor Dorim. Lots of friends and family around, all dancing and partying under the command of my friend Marcelo, from Pure Energy. Once again, video was in the hands of Sean Harvey, and everybody had a fantastic time, just like they did at Matthew’s back then. Mazel Tov!

Melanie and Jeff

Melanie and Jeff tied the knot at the beautiful Alfred Dupont Building in downtown Miami, this past Saturday, and it was a memorable day for them and all their guests. Everything was absolutely perfect, and the day went by way too quickly… The ceremony was a fun and intimate one, performed by one of Jeff’s best friends, and right after it the music by the Music Machine Band made everyone do their moves on the dance floor until the end of the night. Impeccable catering by Joy Wallace, incredible organization by Rebecca D’Amato and my friend Sean Harvey was also there to capture every moment on video. Thanks for the great memories, Melanie and Jeff, I wish you all the very best on your married life!

Los Angeles – April 2012

I’ve just spent a few days in Los Angeles, visiting USC with my family and trying to familiarize myself with a city I could never really “get”… I’ve been there quite a few times before, but LA never appealed to me, at least not in the same sense as a city like, say, San Francisco does. Since my daughter Fernanda is seriously contemplating the possibility of spending her next four years studying Journalism at USC, I felt forced to give the city another try, so to say… Opening my mind to a fresh look at this sometimes overwhelming mixture of cultures and experiences, I found that LA is absolutely unique and highly enjoyable, once you are determined to feel it without any prejudice. I’m glad I did, for I came back with a new perspective on a place I really intend to go back to again and again. Here are a few unpretentious images of an unpretentious visit…

It was a great honor to be there once again for such an important moment in the Edelsteins lives, this time around for Nick’s Bar Mitzvah. His older brother Jake, was one of the very first Bar Mitzvahs I photographed, almost six years ago, and this great family has a special place in my heart… Nick’s celebration was cool and very different, since Julie and Rick decided they would welcome their guests at their own home. All went according to the plan, so after a great service at Temple Dor Dorim in the morning, Nick’s friends enjoyed a whole evening of much dancing, partying and, of course, a bit of basketball as well. Thanks for everything, I’m already getting excited for Sam’s Bar Mitzvah in 2014!

Reed couldn’t wait for his Bar Mitzvah, and it finally happened last Saturday. He performed amazingly at the morning service, and in the evening the celebration went on at the Jacaranda Golf Club, in Plantation, with a beautifully decorated room and many of his best friends. The party was set in high gear by Spider, from Zazz, and the dance floor was never left empty. It was a really good time for all who were to see the happiness of this fantastic family, and I left the party feeling thrilled for Lauren, Rob, Reed and Craig. Congratulations, you deserved it!
